I think if you talk to anyone who played or reffed the first event you will find an overwhelming appreciation for the game that is now considered"old School" but is the type of Paintball we almost all started playing either in tournmaments or as walk on renters.
The teams that played Spring Fever ( can we not argue over this names meaning) hell Halloween Havok was a WCW wrestling event, as will be the final event Judgement Day,( okay also a termininator name) so nothing is really original, and people like familiar things, it's a comfort zone......enough of that ????? the eventual "down the road" of the BCWPPL is to have events that all levels and "budget" players can play, it's fairly inexpensive, it's fun, and it captures the true spirit of Paintball. The hope is that with the 4 events this year between fields on the island and mainland, that other fields and sponsors will become involved for next year, personally i would love to see a series that has monthly events between the Island then the mainland then the interior, then back to the Island etc, with maybe Island teams reffing mainland events, mainland teams reffin Island or interior events etc. basically 3 divisions with 3-4 events in each location and the top 4 scores for your team counting toward a season finally, where the top 3 teams from each area would get free entry to a BC final where the Best woodsball Team in British Columbia would be crowned.
Far fetched?.......maybe, but 20 years ago a person who funded Panther's first stock purchase told me " you'll make beer money from paintball but not much more",.....................................
